Exploring and expanding Science Center research

Expand is a practice-based research and development project located at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Ås, Norway. The project was established in 2011 and will continue until spring 2017. The research carried out in Expand collaborates closely with INSPIRIA Science Center as a central pilot case.

The Expand-project is driven by three main focus areas;

1)    Science centers as learning arenas; In what ways are science centers important, supplementing learning in schools? What are the unique aspects about science centres as learning arenas?

2)    Science centers and engagement; How may science centers increase interest in science? In what ways do science centers contribute to society? Do visits to science centers increase interest in science careers?

3)    Reflective practices in science centers: How should science centers continue their development in the future? How can science centers build a sustainable grounding?
